Windows Calculator plugin for selling uPVC windows and doors got a new significant release. Version 14.1 continues to improve the newest plugin features and possibilities.
Order PDF
Windows Calculator allows generating a PDF file with the order data, such as products cart or a single product information. That allows to create PDF invoices to send it to the customer or managers. It’s hard to overestimate the usefulness of this feature for uPVC window and doors manufacturing business.
Here is an example of such PDF invoice with a couple of products.
New version of the plugin allows control all side spaces of the page individually. This makes possible to better control PDF styles and branding.
Also, two settings were added to control PDF content. First one is to select the ordering items view. There are a few pre-defined views available in the plugin, while as it’s possible to create and use custom ones. Another setting is to output different views of the totals element. There are also a few ready to use views with a possibility to create and use the own.
Product variation & Option value on/off setting
You can create almost unlimited number of product variations and option values. But some of them might be not available for users time after time.
To not need to remove them from products and options and then revert them back, a new setting was added to enable or disable them quickly via one checkbox.
Individual entities export
One more powerful and helpful feature is about exporting any plugin entity into a special file to be imported on the same or another site. Before that plugin release that was possible only to create a whole plugin data export file, what might be excess for some cases.
Now that’s possible to select a few entities, such as options, products, combinations, or calculators, and export them using a posts bulk action. There are even two modes available:
- Fast – you can export only one record per entity. If that entity relies on other entities, such as images or availability rule items, the plugin will look for these entities on the site to rebuild the relations during the import;
- Deep – you can export the entity with all relies on to it entities, such as used images or availability rule items. That way the export file will be larger and more self-sufficient.
Both methods are helpful and can be used for different cases of export and import.
Combination admin side refactoring
The admin part of a combination is the most full of settings and options. We got a lot of feedback about issues of usage of these settings, so we decided to remake this part completely to make it much easier to manage.
From now, combination product size settings are presented as list of settings for width and height in row. That makes the workflow of settings tuning more clear and eye-catching.
The same time code and database structure was completely remade to be extended faster and easily. However, the new version of the plugin works the same with the older database structure, so there will be no issue while migrating to the new version.
Combination thumbnail generation
There is a new admin side feature available to instantly create a combination thumbnail from used products and elements. That might be helpful if you want to create combinations faster, but don’t want to manually create thumbnails using a visual editor.
Smaller fixes and improves
There are many small bug fixes to make the plugin work more reliable. Some of them were found in the WooCommerce integration code. Product variations got better work with SVG and availability rules. Also as the cart items storage was made more stable and reliable.
Moreover, as many code optimizations to make it work much faster. For example, availability rules check code was made about 4 times faster!
